With reference to the 3rd. paragraph of

your Despatch No. 164 of the 5th. ultimo, I have the honour

to inform you that the area referred to is valued by the

Director of Public Works at $3,000. This is arrived at by

taking 6 cents per Square foot and $250 per acre as fair

figures for an estimate,

The mistake in the vote to which this

expenditure was charged arose through a misapprehension that

the money was for the rebuilding of a School.
